Oat Variety Bundel Jai 2004 (JHO 2000-4)

Single cut oat variety Bundel Jai 2004 (JHO 2000-4) was developed at IGFRI, Jhansi by interspecific hybridization (A. sativa- JHO-851 × A. maroccana - 16/30) followed by induced polyploidy and pedigree method of selection. This variety is recommended for all India cultivation except Central zone. Plants are erect with profuse tillering, foliage dark green, spikelets disarticulation by fracture, flower basi-fracture. Lemma green coloured, non-hairy with single week awned. However, this is a single cut variety with wider adaptability than Kent. It has average green fodder yield 39.0 t/ha, dry matter yield 9.3 t/ha and seed yield 1.5-2.0 t/ha. It is tolerant to root rot, crown rust, leaf blight and powdery mildew. This variety is ideally suited for cultivation fodder and feed due to high yield, bold seed and wide adaptation.
